So I may have stumbled onto the same tape as the Stew Mac binding tape. I was renting a van from UHaul and they have this packaging tape there. Looks just like the Stew Mac stuff. So I buy a small roll and cut it in thirds. It's very tough and just like the stew mac stuff at about half the price, you just have to cut it in half. http://www.uhaul.com/MovingSupplies/Tap ... pe?mid=143 Check it out. It's a very good tape. |

On a bandsaw, you can slice it in several rolls.. That's a very nice thing that someone has finally found another source for the brown binding tape!! I will look for it in France. |

There are so many uhaul stores around, I'm sure there would be one close by most folks. I did use my bandsaw to cut the roll into thirds, but that made a bit of a mess due to the glue on the tape. Next time I think I'd just make a simple tape holder with a box cutter blade positioned so the tape is cut when pulling it off the roll. Even if you cut these rolls in half for a 1" wide piece of tape it would be half the price of the Stew Mac tape. |

I used to cut gummed tape into narrower widths, but it scared me when the thing jumped on me. I was using resaw blades. I would recommending using very fine toothed blade for this work. Also make a holder and clamp it very well because it will roll around and cause injury if you are not careful. |

Thanks rod ,cutting round stock is very tricky on a BS unless one is is using a sled and a clamp arrangement. Yea there is one u haul about 5 mi from here. I/m down to my last 2 rolls |

Again, I don't think I'd cut the roll again on the bandsaw as the tape gummed up the blade and tires a bit more than desired. I would make a tape holder something like this ![]() But I would add a thin exacto blade to cut the tape in two as I pulled it off the roll. You'd mostly always use two pieces so this would be an easy fix. |
